Overview
Finca Triunfo Verde is a member owned social enterprise located in the rural coffee growing region of Chiapas Mexico where over 70 percent of the population lives below the national poverty line. For thousands of farmers living in the area coffee is the principal agricultural activity and the only source of income. In turn Triunfo Verde looks to improve the living conditions of small farmers by providing tailored credit coupled with crop focused technical assistance certification support processing and access to specialty markets. The specific region where Triunfo Verde operates is a buffer zone for a U.N. designated biosphere containing many endangered and protected species. The members of Triunfo Verde are committed to organic farming not only because it yields higher prices but also because they are committed to protecting the biosphere.
