Overview
Ben Simon is Founder and President of MyMaryland. Ben is a senior government and politics major at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he is also seeking his Master's in Public Policy with a specialization in nonprofit management. Ben is also the Founder of the Food Recovery Network, a student movement to recover food from college campuses that would otherwise go to waste and donate it to people in need. At UMD, Ben is a former opinion columnist for The Diamondback, UMD’s student-run daily paper, as well as a former candidate for student body president. In high school, he spearheaded student-led campaigns that successfully divested two public pension funds totaling $3.6 billion from companies with operations supporting the genocide in Darfur. He brings five years of nonprofit experience, including three years of being immersed in the open government movement.
