Abigail Sarmac
Abby serves as a Program Officer for The Lemelson Foundation, managing the Foundation’s work to provide early-stage support to organizations that are incubating investment-ready, self-sustaining, invention-based enterprises that address significant human needs in developing countries. She joined the Foundation in April 2005 after living and working in Senegal, Ecuador, Italy and the US with several international environmental organizations, including the World Conservation Union (IUCN), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Abby earned her M.Sc. in Environmental Science from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She also holds a B.Sc. in International Politics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Abby is fluent in Spanish and French and conversant in Italian, Wolof and Tagalog.

Oscar is a consultant and Chartered Financial Manager with over 10 years of experience in corporate management and performance optimization, with a particular emphasis in change management, business development, resource realignment, and service delivery. Asif Saleh was the Executive Director at Goldman Sachs, and also worked at GlaxoWellcome, NorTel, IBM. In 2001, Shetty founded Narayana Hrudayalaya (NH), a multi-specialty hospital in Bommasandra on the outskirts of Bangalore, because he could not find any employers who understood his vision. He believes that the cost of healthcare can be reduced by 50 percent in the next 5–10 years if hospitals adopt the idea of economies of scale.[6] Apart from cardiac surgery, NH also has cardiology, neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, haematology and transplant services, and nephrology among various others. Paul Breloff is the founding managing director of the Accion Venture Lab. He has advised CGAP (an independent research center focused on financial inclusion and housed at the World Bank) on policy and technical issues related to branchless banking and has been engaged by Root Capital, Shell Foundation, BRAC, and others on access-to-finance issues in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
