Soma Cap is building the top seed platform in the world. We aim to seed and double down in the next trillion dollar technology companies that touch billions of people and push humanity forward.Founder Aneel Ranadive grew up in the Silicon Valley observing his father Vivek Ranadive build Tibco Software. Vivek immigrated to the US from Mumbai with $0 for MIT and then Harvard and built Tibco which digitized Wall Street in the 90 s. Tibco grew to power many Fortune 500 companies generating billions in revenue and became a profitable public company then ultimately sold for $4.3 billion to Vista in 2014. Vivek also had his hands in many other legendary tech goliath inception stories and over the last decades seeded and mentored Steve Jobs to Larry and Sergey (Google s seed round was famously raised at Vivek s holiday party) Marc Benioff Jerry Yang and Yahoo eBay among others. Vivek has gone on to do various private equity deals (took WeWork public) and buy sports teams first the Golden State Warriors in 2010 and then the Sacramento Kings NBA team in 2013. Vivek now runs a $5b sports focused private equity fund.Aneel Ranadive went to Columbia undergrad studied math worked in investment banking for 1 year then spent 10 years building various software startups in San Francisco. 8 years ago in early 2015 Aneel founded Soma to combine a lifetime of learnings from father Vivek with 10 years startup experience and aimed to go back the next generation of fearless builders.Since starting in early 2015 Aneel and the Soma Cap team have now launched multiple funds ($1b AUM) and invested early usually one of the 1st checks in over 20 unicorns emerging as arguably the top seed investor in the world.
