Overview
Caroline started Haven Connect because she witnessed systemic barriers to the persistent issues of homelessness and committed to using my skills interest and expertise to do something about it. Her empathy for the homeless grew from volunteering at a homeless shelter in the high school. During college where he graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California she researched how to increase vegetable consumption among food pantry participants many of whom were homeless. Following university she worked as a social worker in homeless shelters and permanent supportive housing for 4 years. Caroline helped homeless families find housing then oversaw the support services delivery for 5 buildings that housed 700 formerly homeless single adults. Caroline pioneered partnerships for needle exchange and jobs for my clients. These experiences strengthened her resolve that real solutions start with understanding the people most affected. To this day she believes user testing both sides of the market will foster Haven Connect s success. Caroline also a lifelong learner strategic visionary and pragmatic. Caroline did not go to business school when she started dreaming of Haven Connect. Instead she pulled together resources found a lead engineer (who has remained on my team) and began prototyping her product. She has taught herself how to design product navigate government bureaucracy and sell to property managers. Caroline also joined programs where she could further develop her leadership skills and expand her networks such as Starting Bloc the New Leaders Council and the Unreasonable Institute. Caroline enjoys the thrill of developing her skills to solve a pervasive systemic issue one she plans to spend the rest of my life on.
